What You May Not Have Known About The Big Lebowski

Joel and Ethan Coen certainly didn’t disappoint in 1998 when they released The Big Lebowski, still considered to be one of the funniest movies of all time to this very day. Odds are you’ve already seen the film one, two, or even seven times, so the team here at Flyeread thought we’d scour through our library to find you a couple of fun facts about The Big Lebowski that you may not have known.

The plot was only a secondary concern. The Big Lebowski is full of a lot of memorable moments and a whole lot of quotable lines, but does anyone remember all the details of the plot? Joel Coen knew some aspects of the plot may be confusing, so he chose not to focus on it. “The plot is sort of secondary to the other things that are sort of going on in the piece," he said in a DVD extra for the film. "I think that if people get a little confused it’s not necessarily going to get in the way of them enjoying the movie.”

The Dude is present in every scene. While The Dude didn’t make the movie what it is all on his own, he’s certainly the focus, and astute observers will notice that he’s present in every scene, even if it’s occasionally indirectly. For example, even if you don’t think you see The Dude in a scene, check the background, look out the window, we promise, he’s there.
