Life Lessons Learned From Brooklyn 99

Fans of Brooklyn 99 love the show for a number of reasons. Sure, it entertains and makes us laugh, but it provides so much more in the process. Here are three of the many life lessons we learned from watching Brooklyn 99.

Work hard and never let anyone stand in the way of your goals. Captain Holt certainly faced more than his fair share of adversity on the force. As an openly gay black cop he had just about ever obstacle imagined thrown at him by a homophobic police force but he worked hard, he got results, and became the Captain that we all know and love.

Sometimes opposites really do attract. On paper, Jake and Amy couldn’t be any more different. One plays by the rules, one goes out of his way to break every possible rule, one is nothing short of a kiss up, the other seems to have a problem with authority, and yet they still found themselves madly in love and became one of the best on-screen romances we’ve ever seen.

Family is your greatest and most important asset. Above all else, the 99 is a family. An unconventional and dysfunctional family at times, sure, but a family nonetheless. They help each other, looks out for each other, and work together as a team, making that team the greatest and most important asset each of them will ever have.
