Book Review: Dare, Truth or Promise by Paula Boock

Are you ready to handle endless collection of classic comedies? Flyeread is an online library of comedy classics which gives access to unlimited audiobooks, music, eBooks and more to ensure happy moments. Dare, Truth or Promise by Paula Boock is a gutsy coming-of-age novel that involves two girls residing in Otago, New Zealand. In 1998, this brilliant book won ‘New Zealand Post Book of the Year Award’. Also, it has got top prize in the category of Senior Fiction.

Willa and Louie are well depicted characters of the story whom readers admire. Both the girls have alternate viewpoints. Willa is quiet, down-to-earth and daredevil, whereas Louie is an easy-going, social, funny character with a wide friend circle. Willa resides in a pub with her mom and wants to be a chef. Louie is an outstanding student and wants to become a lawyer. They are attracted to one another when they meet at a restaurant and soon fall in love. Both the characters are passionate and their lives revolve around their love interests. They recognize each other’s capabilities or talents and encourage each other towards the goals.

The book involves a lot of soul-searching and tears, but no smooth-talking. Boock invokes the teenage love and sometimes humorous precision. At the end, wise counsel and tolerance come from unexpected directions.
