Book Review: Dare Truth or Promise by Paula Boock

Flyeread is an e-library filled with classic comedy content that readers will enjoy. One such classic comedy available here is Dare Truth or Promise by Paula Boock. First published in New Zealand in 1997, this is a novel for teenage readers, and it deals with the complications that arise when two school girls fall in love. From the first time they see each other, Willa and Louie felt a connection that went deeper than anything either of them had ever felt before. But their path to true love is not easy, and past complications make them hesitate to take the next step. Boock evokes the intensity of teenage love with tender, sometimes humorous precision. This is the story of two totally different girls who battle the world to have a happily ever after with each other.

According to readers, this is a must-read book; it will make you happy and sad and you will end up enjoying every moment of the journey. Boock manages to capture the simplicity and yet the confusing complexity of the way that teens view the world creating a both enjoyable and occasionally uncomfortable read as you follow and empathize with the characters. This book also gives a great look at family interactions and cultural expectations. The beginning may not seem good, but the story is worth it. Even though the story was typical the plot was a good one, and it has a happy-ending. The characters are also really loveable.
